The Albany Area Community Service Board CRISIS STABILIZATION PROGRAM:
- Provides a comprehensive array of
Services, including a 24-hour residential program designed for the provision of acute psychiatric stabilization and crisis intervention.
- Offers individual treatment plans that
are developed and carried out by the clinical team to meet the specific needs of each consumer. Family participation and support are an important part of the treatment process.
- Serves Baker, Calhoun, Dougherty,
Early, Lee, Miller, Terrell, and Worth counties.

Crisis Stabilization Program Goals:
- To provide immediate crisis
stabilization for those not yet in the
need of hospitalization, but who
would imminently become so
without services
- To reduce the frequency of
admission and readmission to the
Regional Hospital
- To provide a community based
alternative to the Regional Hospital
- To improve the quality of life for
individuals, families, and significant
others by initializing and facilitating
appropriate linkage with community
resources
How to make a Crisis Stabilization Program Referral:
- Individual contacts the Crisis
Stabilization Program
- Individual must be medically
cleared by private physician or
hospital emergency facility
- All consumers admitted must be 18
years of age or older
Reasons for Denial of Admission to the Crisis Stabilization Program:
- Under the age of 18
- Acute medical condition such as
vomiting blood, chest pains,
unconscious, unstable diabetes,
unstable hypertension, etc.
- Active communicable disease such
as tuberculosis
- Delirium tremors (DTS)
- Forensic consumers (incarcerated,
hold order)

The Albany Area Community Service Board Touchstone Dual Diagnosis Residential Program:
- Provides treatment for co-occurring disorders such as mental illness and chemical dependency to citizens of Baker, Calhoun, Dougherty, Early, Lee, Miller, Terrell and Worth counties
Program Goals:
- To interrupt the individual’s destructive behavior as it relates to the substance use and psychiatric disorder, to teach the signs, symptoms, and the negative impact of the progressive disease and to teach the skills necessary to successfully arrest the dual disorder.
- To educate the participants about the disease concept of co-occurring disorders and the negative impact on the family system.
- To improve cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal coping skills, as well as relapse prevention skills.
- To establish the participants in a recovery program (i.e., extended residential treatment, outpatient treatment, AA/NA meetings, etc.).
Admission Criteria:
- Individual must be chemically free upon admission or must have successfully completed a detoxification or crisis stabilization program.
- Individual may have a co-existing psychiatric disorder.
- Individual must be motivated to attain a chemical free lifestyle and learn how to deal with their co-occurring psychiatric disorder.
- Physical exam must have been completed within thirty days prior to admission to the program.
- Individual must be intellectually capable of understanding the concepts of co-occurring disorders and the recovery process.
- Individuals who are being treated for medical problems must bring a months supply of medication.
- Individual must be at least 18 years old.
- Individuals must pay a pre-admission fee of $100.
Length of Stay:
- The average length of stay in the Touchstone Dual Diagnosis Residential Program is thirty (30) days.
