The Albany Area Community Service Board
(AACSB) services for pregnant, post-partum and women with young dependent children recognizes chemical dependency as a biopsychosocial disease requiring a comprehensive array of interventions of support and enhance the lifestyle changes necessary for sustained abstinence.
We believe that services to the pregnant and post-partum substance abuser must be available through a coordinated service delivery system addressing the specific healthcare and addiction treatment needs of this population.
Services are designed to assist individuals in developing and maintaining the skills necessary to empower them to live independently in their community as valued citizens.
GOALS

To arrange/promote continuity of healthcare services for consumers and their children.

To provide or facilitate access to educational, vocational, housing and childcare
opportunities.

To promote necessary lifestyle changes through changed and/or improved perspective.

To create a sense of empowerment in all consumers.
Day Treatment Program
Admission Criteria
Any female at least 18 years old, who meets the following criteria:

Pregnant, Post-partum, or have young dependent children (ages birth through 4 years of age)

And experiencing at least one of the following:
a. Self report of any drug or alcohol use
b. Positive toxicological screening for alcohol or drug use
c. Positive toxicological screening for the infant at birth
d. DSM IV diagnosis of substance abuse or dependency
AACSB recognizes that pregnant, substance abusing females are given priority for treatment and will receive services appropriate to their identified emergent needs.

A comprehensive array of services are provided for prevention, intervention and treatment for pregnant, post-partum or women with young dependent children.
